Calm at home, all year

For a busy home: the family year to set up, a room or a move to bring calm to, or a celebration to plan.

A room

From cluttered to calm

Drag across the room, or press Play: the same living room as it was, calm by day, and at lamplight.

This is what one on-site day can do for a room: every surface cleared, everything given a home, and an eye for how the room sits together.

An example of one on-site day.

Before: a family living room at midday, cushions, laundry, toys and post across the sofa, the table and the rug.
Before
Calm: the same room by day, surfaces clear, a green throw folded on the sofa and baskets holding things.
Calm
Lamplight: the same calm room in the evening, lit by two warm lamps.
Lamplight
Before: a hall cupboard with its door open, coats piled on the hooks, bags and boxes on the shelf and shoes heaped on the floor.
Before
After: the same cupboard with the coats hung in a row, woven baskets on the shelves and the shoes paired along the bottom.
After

And the hall cupboard

Drag the line across. Coats hung, baskets for the small things, and the shoes in pairs.

The family year, held in one place

Three things set up with you, one on the on-site day. Its price

First

A family calendar

On the calendar app your family already uses, loaded with the year: term dates, INSET days, bank holidays, birthdays and renewals.

Example: an autumn in the calendar

  • 3 SepAutumn term starts
  • 26 SepINSET day: no school
  • 12 OctGrandad's birthday
  • 27 OctHalf term, all week
  • 14 NovCar insurance renews
  • 25 DecChristmas Day, bank holiday

Then

A renewals register

Every renewal in one list, each with a reminder set ahead of it, so nothing runs out by surprise.

Example: the renewals register

And

A paperwork system

Set up in your home on the on-site day: a place for every paper, named so anyone in the family can find it.

Example: the household papers

  • 1The homeinsurance, the mortgage or tenancy
  • 2Moneybank, savings, pensions
  • 3Healththe surgery, the dentist
  • 4Schoolletters, forms, reports
  • 5The carMOT, service, insurance
  • 6Guaranteesand the manuals that go with them
A family planner wall in a calm kitchen: a white grid with small coloured dots, and a shelf below with a stoneware jar and a basket of post.
Household papers in a row of white files with green labels on an oak shelf, and an open box of filed papers in front.
A pale oak hall shelf of plain box files, each with a small sage tab, one open in front showing its plain dividers.

A move, or a renovation

A day at a time

A move or a renovation is booked as on-site days, as many as it needs, with Laura there in person each time. There is no separate package for it.

The on-site day is also bookable on its own, for one room or one cupboard.

In her own words

“a well organised environment is the foundation of success”

Example: a move, in on-site days

  1. Day oneBefore the moveRoom by room: what to keep, decided with you, and every box packed and labelled for its new room.
  2. Day twoThe first week inThe kitchen and the bedrooms unpacked first, so the first night is calm.
  3. Day threeA week laterThe cupboards, the papers and the list of everyone to tell about the new address.

A renovation works the same way: a day to pack up the rooms the work will touch, and a day to put them back.
